Refined grooming, redefined online

Don Barber & Groom isn’t just a barbershop, it’s a full-service wellness destination tailored for men in Athens. From high-end grooming to facial treatments and massage, it’s a space built on quality, precision, and modern masculinity.

By 2023, the team knew their digital presence needed to catch up with their brand. The old website lacked mobile usability, didn’t support English, and underperformed on bookings and product sales. KOMMIGRAPHICS, one of Greece’s top creative studios, took the lead on the redesign and brought me in as part of their development team.

From responsive to mobile-first

This was my first time fully immersed in a mobile-first development strategy. Up to that point, I’d always taken a desktop-first approach and then worked my way down to smaller screens. But this project flipped that completely. Every interaction, every section, and every module was designed with phone users in mind first.

It changed how I thought about spacing, flow, and interaction. And it made the final product much more intuitive, especially for a grooming brand whose audience often books on the go.

Booking and commerce that just work

The booking system was built using Contact Form 7, structured to capture exactly what Don Barber needed: service type, preferred time slots, and custom requests. We kept the flow simple and quick, removing anything that might slow a user down.

For chat and client engagement, we integrated Intercom, giving visitors instant access to the team for quick questions or booking help.

On the e-commerce side, we worked with WooCommerce, optimising the store’s layout for conversion and mobile performance. It wasn’t a massive shop, but it needed to feel premium, clear, and frictionless. And it does.

Bilingual with zero bloat

One of my personal favourite parts of the project was the multilingual setup. We used WPML, which I always recommend for serious multi-language websites. It gave us full control over translations, slugs, and SEO without adding weight or complexity to the backend.

The site now toggles seamlessly between Greek and English, critical for the many international clients Don Barber serves in Athens.

Smooth sailing through solid planning

The standout quality of this build? Planning.

The team at KOMMIGRAPHICS had mapped out every major decision before development began, plugin stack, functional goals, client expectations. That kind of upfront clarity made it easy to focus on execution without second-guessing or scope creep.

And while I supported across the board, my main focus was on:

  • Booking system configuration
  • Chat integration
  • WPML setup and testing
  • Mobile layout refinement
  • E-commerce UX improvements

Results and relationships

The new website launched without a hitch. Giannis, the owner and Master Barber of Don Barber, was thrilled with the outcome. It looked and felt like his brand: modern, masculine, refined. It worked beautifully on mobile. Bookings increased. Clients could finally browse and buy products easily. And the business could now serve international visitors with confidence.

KOMMIGRAPHICS was equally pleased, and the success of this project opened the door for me to work with them again on future builds.

This one was personal. As someone born and raised in Greece, working on a local project with national visibility brought a sense of pride. It felt like coming home, and shipping great work in the process.
